Spoiler Alert: Voices of a Distant Star is a very sad movie. It ends with a view of her drifting in space in what appears to be her mecha’s control/escape capsule suggesting she dies here. However, please note the beginning of the movie is actually the ending. She was rescued and returned to earth, the problem due to relativity, she has only aged about a year while everyone of her age group, boyfriend, etc. are now middle aged and have moved on. She is a girl out of time.
